Sunday April 15 - Day 1
Arrive Athens, Greece. Depart Athens, Greece for flight to Heraklion, Crete (45 minutes)
Meet Patricia and Robinette at the Heraklion airport and travel to the village of Kritsa in eastern Crete (1.5 hours). Afternoon free to settle in your room.
Late afternoon walk through the village of Kritsa. Welcome dinner and introductions.
Monday April 16 - Day 2
Visit Votania Organic Herb Farm for a tour and workshop on the medicinal plants of Crete.
Tuesday April 17- Day 3
Wildflower hike along an ancient roadway built by the Minoans to an archaeological site in the mountains above the village of Kavousi.
Late lunch (or early dinner) at a small taverna serving traditional Eastern Cretan dishes.
Wednesday April 18 - Day 4
Visit to the lively Wednesday morning Farmers Market in Aghios Nikolaos.
Seaside lunch and time for browsing and shopping in Aghios Nikolaos.
Tour of the nearby Bioaroma essential oil distillery.
Free evening in Kritsa.
Thursday April 19 - Day 5
Depart Kritsa for the high mountains of the Lasithi Plateau. Check into guesthouse.
Late afternoon walk through the gardens and fields of Lasithi, followed by traditional Cretan dinner cooked in clay pots in an open hearth.
Introduction to Greek wines.
Friday April 20 - Day 6
Visit to Psychro Cave.
Wildflower hike and visit to a local monastery.
Saturday April 21 - Day 7
Hands-on cooking class. Learn to cook with wild greens. Make hand-rolled macaroni, phyllo pies and other dishes.
Sunday April 22 - Day 8
Depart for Heraklion, the capital city of Crete. Check into hotel.
Guided tour of Heraklion Archaeological Museum.
Free time for shopping in the afternoon.
Monday April 23 - Day 9
Guided tour of the Knossos archaeological site.
Winery tour and lunch in Archanes.
Evening gathering for drinks and farewells.
Tuesday April 24 - Day 10
Depart Crete for home.
