Wild Crete presents…
The Traditional Cuisine of Crete
September 4 to 12, 2010

Traditional Cuisine, Aromatic Herbs and the Culture of Crete
Join us for an eight day travel seminar
celebrating traditional cuisine on the Greek island of Crete.....

Our approach to travel is unusual.

Unusual, in the opportunities you'll have to smell, taste, touch,
and see a modern culture that still savors and adheres to its traditional ways of life.

Unusual, in how the rhythm of our days together allows you to become
a temporary resident, not just an observer of, life on Crete.

Unusual, in the personal attention you'll receive as one of our twelve guests.

You’ll visit quiet mountain villages, organic farms,
cosmopolitan towns, bakeries, vineyards, cheese makers,
olive groves, spice vendors, and more.

On country walks, you will learn about Crete’s wild herbs,
village gardens and small scale farming.
And you’ll meet locals involved in businesses that are
contributing to Crete’s thriving sustainability movement.

Every place we visit, you’ll enjoy authentic Cretan meals
especially prepared for our group, from simple lunches
eaten in the shade of an olive tree,
to the latest culinary interpretations of traditional foods.

You’ll learn the basic concepts of the Mediterranean Diet
whose roots are in Minoans recipes that
were later enhanced by Venetian and Turkish influences.

You’ll talk with village cooks about the origins
of various family dishes, collect recipes,
and gather ideas about how to bring the essence of Crete's
extraordinarily healthy lifestyle into your kitchen.

Informal seminars are the thread that weaves together
your experiences on Crete and helps you to understand
and appreciate the local culture, cuisine and landscape.

And our well-paced travel schedule leaves plenty of time
for resting, exploring on your own and absorbing your experiences.

If this sounds like the tour for you, read on!
