Saturdy April 24 - Day 1
Arrive Athens, Greece. Depart Athens, Greece for flight to Heraklion, Crete (45 minutes)
Meet Patricia and Robinette at the Heraklion airport and travel to the village of Kritsa in eastern Crete (1.5 hours). Afternoon free to settle in your room.
Late afternoon walk through the village of Kritsa. Welcome dinner and introductions.
Sunday April 25 - Day 2
Visit Votania Organic Herb Farm for a tour and workshop on the medicinal plants of Crete. Afternoon tour of Museum Rodanthi, the most extensive botanical and naturalist museum on Crete. Dinner in a nearby village.
Monday April 26 - Day 3
Guided wildflower hike along an ancient roadway built by the Minoans to an archaeological site in the mountains above the village of Kavousi.
Dinner at a small taverna serving traditional Eastern Cretan dishes.
Tuesday April 27 - Day 4
Morning tour of the Bioaroma essential oil distillery, then on to Aghios Nikolaos for seaside lunch, browsing and shopping. Free evening in Kritsa.
Wednesday April 28 - Day 5
Depart Kritsa to drive into the high mountains of the Lasithi Plateau with stops along the way. Check into guesthouse.
Late afternoon walk through the gardens and fields of Lasithi, followed by traditional Cretan dinner cooked in clay pots in an open hearth and an introduction to Greek wines.
Thursday April 29 - Day 6
Guided tour of the Psychro Cave.
Wildflower hike and visit to a local monastery.
Friday April 30 - Day 7
Hands-on cooking class. Learn to cook with horta or wild greens and make hand-rolled macaroni, phyllo pies and other dishes.
Saturday May 1 - Day 8
Depart for Heraklion, the capital city of Crete. Check into hotel.
Guided tour of Heraklion Archaeological Museum.
Afternoon exploring and shopping in Heraklion.
Sunday May 2 - Day 9
Guided tour of Knossos Archaeological site.
Winery tour and lunch.
Monday May 3 - Day 10
Depart for home, or further adventures on your own.
